Cultures in the Crossfire: Stories from Syria and Iraq

This exhibition focused on the ongoing destruction of cultural heritage in the Middle East. Art and artifacts from the Penn Museum’s collection were paired with contemporary artwork from Issam Kourbaj, a Syrian artist based in Cambridge, UK. This provided an “art intervention”—a modern-day response to the artifacts and themes. Members of Super Commons worked on this gallery from concept to install as part of an in-house design team at the Penn Museum.
